DataGravity named Storage Products of the Year finalist

Recently, we’ve watched the data storage industry undergo some major changes. Corporate giants have announced merger and acquisition (M&A) news, consolidating huge organizations that once dominated their markets. Startups are constantly tackling the industry’s most complicated problems in refreshing, efficient ways. All in all, it’s clear that vendors and end users alike are beyond accepting the storage status quo and interested in adopting new technologies that push innovation in the storage space.

For the past 14 years, Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com have awarded a few select organizations the title of “Product of the Year.” A unique quality about this list, which sets it apart from other editorial recognitions, is that the criteria focuses solely on the 12 months leading up to the finalist announcements – which gives major enterprises and green startups an equal playing field upon which to compete. With the events of 2015 in our collective rearview mirror, it’s no surprise that the list of 2016 Storage Product of the Year finalists is a diverse and compelling one.

Products named to the SearchStorage list are sorted into six categories, which represent the areas of storage currently making the greatest strides: backup software, backup hardware, storage management tools, storage system software, all-flash systems, and disk and hybrid systems. The finalists are judged by a panel consisting of users, analysts, consultants and editors, and rated based on innovation, performance, ease of integration, ease of use, functionality and value.

DataGravity is one of the disk and hybrid category’s finalists, with SearchStorage Staff Writer Garry Kranz noting that our Discovery Series Version 2 built on the momentum generated when we introduced data-aware storage to the market in 2014. “DataGravity integrates production storage, security, search, discovery and data protection in a single appliance,” writes Kranz. “Discovery Series arrays analyze the data contents of files and virtual machines to provide near-real-time alerts, forensics, compliance auditing and reporting.”

The face of storage is changing. News from startups and established vendors alike is propelling the industry forward, and even our own platform continues to evolve. Through these market shifts, we’re in great company with the other leaders and innovators named contenders for Storage Products of the Year.
